We regret to announce that the Gibsons Grind has been cancelled for 2019. In the 7 years of its existence, the goal of the Grind has always been to provide an affordable, safe, rider-centric event which shows off some of the beautiful scenery of the Sunshine Coast. However, the past few years has seen both a significant increase in traffic and a deterioration in the quality of Hwy 101 which is used for significant stretches of the Grind. Due to these conditions, the Grind participants are put at more risk than we would like and hence our decision to cancel. The Ministry of Transportation is currently evaluating Hwy 101 and we are hoping for improvements in the future.
Ride the Grind 2019!
Join us on Saturday, June 22th, 2019, for the 8th annual Gibsons Grind Granfondo on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, Canada.
This cycling event provides scenic routes through the Sunshine Coast with event lengths that will appeal to all riders. All rides start at the Langdale ferry terminal and end at Persephone Brewery Company. From there it's a short downhill ride back to the Langdale ferry terminal.
Sunshine Coast, British Columbia
The Sunshine Coast is located north of Vancouver BC and is accessed by a 40 min ferry ride on BC Ferries. When travelling to the area, it appears to be an island, separate from the Lower Mainland of BC. The fact is the Sunshine Coast is attached by land mass, there is just no road access. The Gran Fondo begins at the Langdale ferry terminal and showcases an area boasting gorgeous scenery, more than 20 provincial parks, lakes, beaches, talented artisans and great food. The ride ends at the iconic Persephone Brewing Company where riders can enjoy a cold post ride beer and a BBQ. From there it's a short ride back to the Langdale ferry. Or, consider making this a weekend get-away. See Sunshine Coast Tourism for info on accommodations.
